Marines with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment sharpen their marksmanship skills with the M4 Carbine and the M16A4 rifles. The FN M16A4, using safe/semi/burst selective fire, is now the standard issue for all U.S. Marine Corps, with the M4A1 now being planned as the replacement rifle for most units in the U.S. military. The M4A1 is used by almost all U.S special operation units including Marine Force Recon, Army Rangers, Army Special Forces, Navy SEALs, United States Air Force Pararescue and Air Force Combat Control Teams. The M4 is a shorter and lighter variant of the M16A2 assault rifle. It is a gas-operated, magazine-fed, selective fire, shoulder-fired weapon with a telescoping stock and 14.5 in barrel to better serve in close quarters combat. Just like the M16, the M4 fires a .223 caliber, or 5.56 mm NATO round. Filmed January 7, 2015.
