On May 25, 2011 nearly 400 Taliban ambushed a U.S. Coalition force of 50 near Do Ab, Afghanistan. In the ensuing 13 hour fire-fight USAF Forward Air Controllers called in close air support to save coalition forces from being overrun and slaughtered. Throughout the day, air strikes by US Air Force F-16s, F-15s, and AC-130 gunships, US Navy Super Hornets, and US Army AH-64 Apaches and OH-58 Kiowas pounded the Taliban forces, resulting in an estimated 270 enemy killed.
