In Afghanistan during a firefight, Army Ranger Leroy Petry picked up an enemy grenade and attempted to throw it away. It blew up severing his hand. But it saved the lives of two of his fellow troopers. Despite being shot and losing his hand, Sergeant First Class Petry continued to fight and lead his men in the battle. For his personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty, Leroy Petry was awarded the Congressional Medal Of Honor on July 12, 2011. Well deserved.
